Tiny Dancer is a theatre association dedicated to creating interactive dance and sensory performance experiences for children and young people.
We design poetic, movement-based performances where stories unfold without words, and audience become active participants in a shared journey.
Step into a world where dance becomes dialogue and imagination takes centre stage.
Tiny Dancer empowers the audience by resonating with and activating the tiny dancer hidden inside them, while challenging choreography as a discipline. Our unique approach centers on kinesthetic empathy—the ability to feel and understand emotions through movement—and participatory pedagogy, where audiences are not just spectators but active contributors.
We believe that by moving together, we create deeper connections that transcend words. Dance becomes a shared language, allowing emotions, stories, and experiences to unfold in ways that resonate physically and emotionally.
We deeply value collaboration, co-creation, and sustainability, weaving these principles into every stage of our creative process. From choosing environmentally friendly materials and supporting local artists to including diverse communities and disciplines, our commitment extends beyond the final performance.
We collaborate with schools, kindergartens, municipalities, festivals and more across Denmark and beyond. Our performances, shaped by kinesthetic empathy and pedagogy align with the goals of educators and cultural partners.
At the core of our methodology is the belief that true understanding comes from shared movement. Kinesthetic empathy—connecting through motion—lets audiences feel stories physically and emotionally. Our performances invite the audience to mirror dancers, creating deep connection and understanding.
We produce and present works that often emerge through interdisciplinary collaborations. By blending diverse art disciplines and innovative pedagogical approaches, we push artistic boundaries and deliver transformative experiences that resonate across cultures and communities.
Sustainability is a guiding principle shaping every part of our journey. From supporting local artists and businesses to adopting sustainable production practices, fostering co-creation with audiences, and embracing diverse communities and disciplines, we ensure that core values such as social responsibility, collaboration, and inclusivity are woven into every step. This approach guarantees each performance leaves a lasting, positive impact—on stage and behind the scenes.
We look forward to meeting you. Join us on an exciting journey and let your tiny dancer guide you through a magical world of movement, music, and story.
Mette’s artistic voice is shaped by a deep fascination with site-specific, participatory, and performative works. Her choreography invites audiences into spaces where the boundaries between performer and viewer blur, creating an interactive experience that is as much about feeling as it is about seeing. For Mette, dance is a dialogue—a shared experience where every participant plays a role in the unfolding narrative.
Meet Mette Møller Overgaard, a visionary Danish choreographer, dancer, and dance facilitator based in Copenhagen. Mette’s journey through the world of dance is one defined by curiosity, connection, and creativity—a story woven through movement and human connection.
Her formal education began with a study of stage dance at Iwanson International (2006–2009), where the language of contemporary dance first captured her imagination. In 2014, she graduated from The Danish National School of Performing Arts, specializing as a dance facilitator—a role where she discovered the power of dance as a tool for communication, empathy, and community building.
Mette's approach is deeply research-based, transforming insights from her explorations into artistic productions that resonate with broad audiences.
Community and empathy are recurring themes in her work through which communities are formed and empathy becomes a shared language.
